CelebDigs.com can report exclusively that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are taking over the recently shut-down John Frieda salon on Melrose Place so they can turn it into the flagship store for their luxury brand The Row. We're hearing that all of the stylists were relocated just last week, so obviously this move took place very quickly.

The 3,600-square-foot commercial space boasts a sparkling courtyard pool, floor-to-ceiling windows and polished tile floors, and it's safe to say that half of Hollywood's leading ladies are already quite familiar with the location. Serge Normant currently uses the space as his Los Angeles salon (his famous clients are Julia Roberts, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gisele Bundchen, Miranda Kerr and Gwyneth Paltrow), and prior to that, Sally Hershberger (notable past and present clients include Meg Ryan, John Mayer and Kate Moss) occupied the space. And before all that, it was Neil Diamond's home!

The Olsen twins launched their high-end line in 2006 after dabbling in more mainstream markets with fragrances and a teen clothing collection at Wal-Mart. The sisters have brought in $1 billion in retail sales through their company, Dualstar, which distributes The Row, along with the slightly more affordable Elizabeth & James and Olsenboye collections. Needless to say, the high-priced rent is not an issue for the 27-year-old starlets...

A source tells CelebDigs exclusively, a real estate rep for the luxury label approached the building's owners just before Normant's lease was set for renewal, and offered more than DOUBLE the current rent for the space. When the salon wasn't able to pony up a competitive price, the landlord issued notice and the salon was shut down within weeks.

A possible new location was rumored to be a bungalow at the Chateau Marmont, but as far as we know, no moves have been made and when we called the salon's number for a comment, the line is no longer in service.

Quite a real estate row over this prime property!
