Supermodel Cindy Crawford and her entrepreneurial hubby Rande Gerber are jumping into the real estate game with a big-time, big price tag remodel on celeb-studded Point Dume in Malibu.
The wealthy pair have picked up a prime lot at the end of Grayfox Street, just a few doors down from the street's most famous resident, Julia Roberts.
The parcel was recently reduced to $6,195,000 so Cindy and Rande snatched it up and they've already got the plans and permits ready to go.
Getting designs approved by the infamously-difficult Coastal Commission in the seaside town is no small feat, but it seems Cindy has friends in high places. After all, Rande owns the restaurant Cafe Habana at the Malibu Lumber Yard mall and has business partners scattered all over the shores and hills of this star-studded beach town.
The lot is one of only 4 parcels with deeded beach rights, with its own private path to Little Dume beach. The existing 4-bedroom, 4-bath home will be leveled and a modern, white stucco and wood, much larger house, will replace it.
A source tells us at CelebDigs the home will be "eco-friendly, LEED-certified like Julia Roberts' house." We're told the supermodel and her husband are committed to making this a profitable, but beautiful project: "Cindy wants this to be a Malibu dream home. She's been really involved in the design and so has Rande. They definitely have a vision."
Check out our gallery of photos of the current home, and of Cindy and Rande visiting the site. And below are some shots from the couple's design boards with renderings of their upcoming project.
